RESULTS OF PUBLIC HEARINGS:
GBTI - GREATER BALTIMORE TRANSIT INITIATIVE

Recently, an independent Action Committee, led by Dee Michaels, in conjunction with the distant consulting firm of DMT, completed a "thorough" study of the Baltimore Transit Company's network, with the intention of improving it for public use.  While the BTCo was skeptical about the results of the study, we did finance the ability for its results to be heard among our riders, with the clear intention made that the findings were the result of independent study, not necessarily representing the views of BTCo management.

In general, the recommendations of the independent committee were as follows:
  • Eliminating the #18 trolley bus line.
  • Combining the A bus with the south leg of the #18 trolley bus, as a new A bus.
  • Eliminating the #27 trolley bus line.
  • Extending the C bus over the South end of the #27 trolley bus to create a new C bus.
  • Rearranging the Q bus to cover portions of the East end of the #27 trolley bus.
  • Combining the #25 streetcar with the South end of the #6 Streetcar.
  • Combining the Eastern End of the #6 Streetcar with the #4 Streetcar.
  • Combining the #26 and #32 Streetcar Lines.
  • Combining the #14 and #15 Streetcar Lines.
  • Combining the peak #15 extension to West Baltimore St. Loop with the peak trips of the #20 to Downtown as new line #40.
  • Combining the #31 and #19 Streetcar Lines.
  • Eliminating the #46 and #47 Streetcar Lines.
  • Eliminating the #33 Streetcar line, and replacing it with an extension of the "Z" Bus.
The overwhelming response to this initiative was negative, so the recommendations were permanently shelved.  Among the most notable reactions was the initative mounted by local activist Vince Charles.  Rest assured that the services you depend on will continue to operate as they currently do, and that no further action will be undertaken on this independent plan.

NOTICE OF PROPOSAL OF PUBLIC HEARING:
POSSIBLE EXTENSION OF #16 TROLLEYBUS.

BTCo is presently looking in to the idea of extending the  #16 trolley bus beyond its Broadway terminus, out Aliceanna Street, Boston Street, O'Donnell Street, and Ponca Streets to a new terminus near the Bayview Medical Center.  While hearings regarding the proposal have not been set, suggestions concerning the proposal may be submitted to the BTCo at the address below.  Please mark the Envelope to the Attention of Faye Etta Milton, Director of Planning.

  • Thank you for the new Online maps, they are outstanding.  Glad to see you finally got up to date.  But speaking of time, I'm still waiting to see downloadable schedules for each line, especially the routes that don't run as often. - Barney Charles
  • Thanks for the well in advance detour alerts.  I find them very helpful when making travel plans.  It would be nice if you could have a form to submit your email address and the lines you use, and to get an email when one of your lines has a service alert - Moravia Sinclair
  • The extension of the #33 cars into City Hall in peak hours has been a great boon to the West Arlington community.  Thanks for once again finally offering a one seat ride from our oasis into Downtown - Gwen Oaks
  • Thanks for ordering those sweet new PCC rebuilds.  They are a pleasure to operate.  I can't wait to sneak one down the "new" #34 line by "mistake."  N. Gelmanjahnn - Streetcar Operator, Gardenville Yard.
