"The Farm that was, but isn't...."
It is often joked that real estate developers choose street names that represent what they're destroying to make way for their development.  For example, a street called Cherry Tree Lane in a housing development probably marks the site of where the cherry tree once stood.  Whole developments are also named for the former tenants in sort of an odd sense of memorial, despite the destruction of every bit of tangible evidence of the former state of the property.

Thus, it's odd when one stumbles across a remaining element of a former land tenant in a new development, and even odder when one comes across such a marker in an OLD development...

Such is the case on the east side of Bellona Avenue, where two markers still mark the entrance to a farm that ceased to exist by the 1940's, being replaced with the Rodgers Forge - Dunkirk development that stands today.  Both markers are well cared for, and actually mark the entrance to an alley way.

These Dumbarton Farm markers are easily visible from Bellona Avenue, though when motoring, they stand out more when heading Southbound.  As I can get information on the history of this farm, I'll be glad to post more details here.  For now, here go the markers, and another possible relic as well.

Both the gate markers and the trees appear to be true original to the Dumbarton Farm

A closer look at the pillars and the inscription within.

What may be a spring from the Dumbarton Farm lies at Stevenson Lane and Dumbarton Road, about 1/2 mile from the gateway.  What looks to be an old farmhouse lies West of here on Bellona Avenue.
