If there's one category of ghosts that most people in the Baltimore region that people of every interest DO pay attention to, it would be the signs and traffic signals that populate the streets of Baltimore.  While the vast majority of these "traffic control" devices are rarely anything out of the ordinary, there are some interesting and unique exceptions, including a number of antique signals that continue to perform just as well as they did when installed many, many years ago.

Four Way Non-Adjustable Signal Heads

A configuation once commonplace, the pole or pedestal mounted signal head is not nearly as common today.

Growing scarcer and often found "modernized" in many areas are these GE Pedestrian lights that carry a nice vintage look to them.

SIGNS OF OLD
ONE WAY Sign arrows with tails, a sign leading the way to the John F. Kennedy Highway.  In this age of standardization, these novelties are endangered species.
STATE ROUTE NUMBERS
While in more common usage in outlying areas, route numbers are virtually unknown to the City commuters who use these thorofares every day!
STREET SIGNS
WWhile the standardized white letters/green background may seem universal, there are a number of remnants and even variations that have persisted to this day.  Here is a look at the street signs that have graced the city.

Often unnoticed by many, there are a handful of street markers directly engraved into buildings themselves.  These often denoter street names no longer used.
